Forensic Interview
A forensic interview is a structured conversation with a child conducted by a trained counselor following a nationally recognized protocol. The forensic interviewer asks non-leading, developmentally appropriate questions regarding the trauma the child has experienced.
Referrals for forensic interviews are received by law enforcement or the Department of Human Resources. All forensic interviews are digitally recorded and remotely observed by members of the multi-disciplinary team of investigators.
Therapy
Prescott House believes children need to process their trauma to begin healing. Our counselors offer high-quality, trauma-based counseling services at no charge to child victims and their families. Our therapy approaches include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and TraumaPlay Therapy. These models address the emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with traumatic life experiences. Both models are evidence-based programs and are considered best practice for children and families who have experienced abuse and trauma.

Background Check
Advocacy
Prescott House understands the journey to healing continues after the family leaves our center. We provide follow-up contacts and connection to community resources as needed. Prescott House believes children can heal and thrive after abuse and our staff of advocates are committed to helping along the way.
Prevention
Our Prevention Program has a two-pronged approach: training adults in organizations that serve youth and community members at large and facilitating school-based programs for children grades K4-12.
The burden of prevention and protection belongs to adults who are responsible for the health and safety of children. Therefore, we train adults and older adolescents who work in community organizations to recognize potential opportunities for abuse. This prevention program will benefit both children and adults as we aim to continually create communities where children can thrive.
In accordance with Erin's Law, our program aims to equip children to build healthy lifestyles by teaching them about personal safety. They will learn how to identify inappropriate touching, receive tips for Internet safety, and how to recognize and build a robust network of safe adults.
